Floyd G. West, 91 of West Burlington died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Great River Klein Center.
Born March 7, 1927 in Saskatchewan Canada, he was the son of Robert and Irene (Smithburg) West.
Floyd attended high school in Lockridge, Iowa. He served in the United States Army as Corporal during WW II. He owned West Texaco, Nira Tavern and Donna's Lounge for several years.
He was of the Christian faith. He was a NRA member, VFW member and Lifetime Moose Member. He had many hobbies including fishing, hunting, playing cribbage and pitch. He especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter play Iowa Hawkeye softball. He was the type of person that never knew a stranger.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff (Tracy) West of Burlington and Craig (Lori) Upton of West Burlington; two daughters, Becki Hill of Davenport, IA, and Susan Ballenberger of Des Moines, IA; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Towne of Wichita Falls, TX and Hazel Moses of Fair Oaks, CA; and one brother, Bob (Barb) West of Mt. Sterling, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Steve Upton, four sisters, one brother, and one grandson.
