Charles 'Chuck' Kovanda, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018, at his
home in Keenesburg, Colorado. He was born to Edward William Kovanda and Dorothy
Waunetta (Ross) Kovanda, during what is still considered the worst snowstorm to hit the
northern plains, in North Platte, Lincoln, Nebraska on November 8, 1949.
He was a 1969 graduate of Brighton High School. He enlisted in the navy afterwards, and served from June
19, 1969, until March 02,1973. He was then in the reserves for two years. He married Kathy
(Pagliai) Kovanda, the woman of his dreams, on June 19th, 1998. He worked for Anadarko as a
Plant Operator for twenty-three years. In 2016 he retired to a life of ranching and poetry, a
cowboy through and through. He braided anything he could get his hands on, worked on the
farm, rode his cherished horses, and went on many adventures; if he wasn't asleep in his
favorite chair. He helped anyone that needed it, and made a genuine impression on every life
he touched. He was a stubborn o...[more]
goat, couldn't make him do a thing he didn't want, but he
had a heart of pure gold.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; brother, Edward (Marlene) Kovanda;
sister, Sandra (Lee) Ring; brother Dennis (Stephen) Kovanda; daughter, Lisa (Jimmy) Hayden;
son, Marcus Sater; son, Sean (Amber) Burtis; son, J.J. (Michelle) Kovanda; daughter, Courtney
Simmons; and daughter, Laurie Yoder; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his sister Dixie Hatch.
