He also learned electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning skills; and even though he had difficulty with algebra, he could solve thermodynamics problems in his head. He was a devoted family man, Boy Scout leader, and a Christian, serving a number of years as a lay-pastor and leader in two Denver congregations. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, playing golf, dancing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, woodcarving, reading and watching a variety of sports, especially supporting his boys in their athletic endeavors while they were growing up.
