Edna Sherer

Edna Sherer, age 99 of Centerville, died Sunday morning, May 4, 2008 at Golden Age Care Center, Centerville. Edna was born August 12, 1908, the daughter of Charles and Nina (Olson) Carlson in Appanoose County. She graduated from Centerville High School. Edna married Gene Sherer on July 30, 1932 in Unionville, Missouri. He preceded her in death. Edna worked in the office at EW Fannon in Centerville. She also worked several years with Indian Hills Community College as a office business manager. Edna was a member of the Tri T's and PEO, and was a Girl Scout Leader for fourteen years. She was a life long member of the First Lutheran Church in Centerville. Edna is survived by three nieces, Kay Lea (Duane) Crawford of Unionville, Missouri, Marilyn (Richard) Hoisington and family of Chapman, Kansas, and Martha Frickie and family of Bellwood, Missouri; four nephews, Dr. Samuel "Doug" (Suzanne) Dye and family of Silver City, New Mexico, Tom (Carol) Trotter and family of Fremont, Nevada, Pete (Janet) Trotter and family of Solon, Iowa, and Tom (Debbie) Sherer and family of Fulton, Missouri; a great niece Sandra Crawford and her son Payne Pfeiffer of Unionville, Missouri; two cousi...[more]

Barbara (Craig) Campbell and family of Des Moines, Iowa, and Carol Ann Bean of Des Moines, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Berta Lea Dye of Silver City, New Mexico. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gene Sherer; and a sister in infancy. Graveside services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Pastor Kathy Franzenburg officiating. Following the burial there will be a memorial service and luncheon held at 10:30 AM at the Lutheran Church in Centerville, Iowa. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa or the First Lutheran Church and may be left at or mailed to Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
