To celebrate her 91st birthday, she took her bicycle for a spin, "Just to see if I could it." Marietta is known for her unwavering faith. She traveled the globe on pilgrimages and daily attended Mass and adoration. Marietta prayed an incalculable number of rosaries for loved ones, strangers, and peace. Christ the King Catholic Church Altar Society, Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and Disabled American Veterans are among the organizations which benefitted from Marietta's dedicated service. Marietta is survived by her children: Suzanne (Dale) Petersen of Ames, Robert (Suzy) Blanchet of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Brenda (Dave) Houck of Bremerton, Washington and Jane Ann (Brian) Becicka of West Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Patricia Harrigan and Stella (Bill) Webber; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters Dolores and infant Cecilia; brothers Robert, John, Slater, Vincent, Maurice and infant Gerard; as well as several nieces and nephews.
