Anne Margaret Nichols passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at the age of 88. She was born in South Lyon, Michigan on September 9, 1930 to Forrest and Dorothy (Olmstead) Phillips. She attended Michigan State University where she was a sister in the Kappa Sigma sorority. While at Michigan State, Mrs. Nichols met the love of her life Harold Nichols Jr. and after a flurry of love letters, they were married in 1952. Following her education, she sought to care for the children of Michigan as an elementary school teacher. However, her passion for education extended past school walls for she was also a member of the Fruitport Library Board as well as a "Friend of the Library" where she organized book drives and book sales. After her career teaching children, Mrs. Nichols had five children of her own. From the start of her life all the way until the end, Mrs. Nichols was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Anne Nichols is survived by her daughters Laurie Anne (Don) Montague of Kansas City and Linda Sue (Alex) Cappello of Los Angeles; as well as her sons Doug (Pat) Nichols of Fruitport, Richard (Doris) Nichols of North Muskegon and her daughter-in-law Wendy of Muskegon. ...[more]
. Nichols exuded a love for her family, a virtue that was carried onward by her own children, resulting in 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 2005, her son Tom in 2017 and her brother Richard Phillips in 1987.
Mrs. Anne Nichols will be sorely missed, but her staggering beauty, grace, and love for all will forever live in the memories of those who met her.
