Dr. Sturtz was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa American Veterinary Medical Association Iowa State Veterinary Medical Association and the Maquoketa Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Sturtz loved his family and grandchildren and his family lineage. He also loved doing yard work vintage cars and vintage tractors.
Dr. Sturtz is survived by: children- Darci(Mrs. Kary) Becker of Maquoketa IA & Tyler(Katie) Sturtz of Cedar Rapids IA; 5 grandchildren- Alex Ashley Abram Avery & Kendall; 1 brother- Pat(Mary) Sturtz of Pocahontas IA; 1 sister-Pam(Mrs. Clayton) Swanson of Clear Lake IA; & Linda Sturtz of Maquoketa IA. He was preceded in death by his parents & 1 niece.
A Dr. Walter J. Walt Sturtz Memorial Fund has been established.
