Florence Amelia Gibbs

Florence Amelia Gibbs, age 94, formerly of Burlington Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018 in Glendale, Arizona. She was born November 2, 1924 in Milton, Iowa to Paul and Leah (Wuthrich) Ward. She played basketball for and graduated from Milton High School before moving to Burlington, where she met and married her husband, Robert Gibbs in October of 1944. Florence worked for many years at Doran and Ward Lithographing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids, reading, making puzzles and watching Iowa sports. She had a long life that included living to see her beloved Cubs win the World Series. Survivors include a brother, Karl (Max) Ward of Wilsonville, OR, two sons, Dennis (Erica) Gibbs of Burlington, IA and Robert (Jenni) Gibbs of Glendale, AZ, a daughter, Patricia (Tim) Miller of Monument, CO, 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers (Kenneth and Donn) and a sister (Romonna).
