Edward Alonzo Rozear, Jr. was born on May 7, 1929 in Apalachicola, Florida. He was the older of two sons born to Maude and Edward Rozear, Sr. His early years were spent hunting and fishing with his dad, a merchant marine. He joined the Army at 17 and was stationed in Japan just as the Second World War was ending. His first assignment put him in charge of a Japanese prison. Later, working for Air America (CIA), he flew in and out of Vietnam , Laos and Cambodia on one dangerous mission after another. Stateside, he was flight engineer for Eastern Airlines and worked in maintenance management for Midway, Air Florida and Midway Airlines.
In his retirement, he continued to serve his community, notably, post 9/11 he helped guard Port Everglades from possible retaliation. Having been director of maintenance, his ability to fix anything was well known in his neighborhood and with his family.
Service to country and everyone he knew was rooted in his faith in his Maker. He attended Coral RIdge Presbyterian Church for many years, and most recently Reality Church in Weston. His favorite hymn, Jerusalem, is a reality for him now.
