John H. Michaelis

MADISON-John H. "Mack" Michaelis, age 84, of Madison, died on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at home due to complications from congestive heart disease and diabetes. He was born on Jan. 23, 1934, in Madison, the son of John and Jannette (Christianson) Michaelis. Mack graduated from Central High School. He married Naoma Pursell on Sept. 27, 1952 in Madison. Mack worked at the Madison Post Office until retirement. He loved sports and enjoyed participating in them and watching them. He also was involved in many activities. Mack is survived by his wife, Naoma; daughter, Deborah Michaelis and children, Kami and Connie; daughter, Denise (Larry) Bittner and children, Ben and Sam; daughter, Peggy Murphy; son, Dennis (Darleen) Michaelis and children, Matthew, Eric, and Sarah; brother-in-law, Marvin (Kathleen) Pursell; sister-in-law, Wilma Zahalka; brother-in-law, Clifford (Bonnie) Pursell; sister-in-law, Eleanor Moriva; sister-in-law Marilyn Pursell; sister-in-law Marge Pursell; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-children; and many other relatives and friends. Celebration of Mack's Life will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Visitation will be held at church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
