McKinley, Michael L.

Michael "Mike" L. McKinley, 71, of Des Moines, IA, passed away the morning of November 30, 2018 at Taylor House. Mike was born in Corydon, IA to Thomas Eugene McKinley and Evelyn Pauline (Ellis) McKinley. He graduated from Des Moines Tech High School and served in the Navy aboard the USS Josephus Daniels (DLG-27) during the Vietnam War. After he got out of the Navy, Mike moved back to Des Moines, raised three children, was an active member of St Joseph's Catholic Church, and retired from Fair-Play Scoreboards (currently Trans-Lux Fair-Play). He is survived by his son, Mark McKinley; daughters, Laura (McKinley) See and Jane McKinley; grandchildren, Anthony Curry, Nathan McKinley, Zach Wilson, Jeffrey McKinley-Minard, Vernon Bohall II, and Isabella Mack; great-grandson, Ayden Curry; sisters, Sharon (McKinley) Vignaroli and Judy (McKinley) Rossett; brother-in-law, Dave Rosset; nephew, D. Joseph Vignaroli; nieces, Jennifer Brown, Heather (Brown) Kelly, and Teresa (McKinley) Sandoval, and 14 great nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Evelyn McKinley, his brother, James "Jim" Edward McKinley, and granddaughter Cecilia Evelyn McKinley. ...[more]

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, December 4, 2018, followed by a Vigil Service beginning at 7pm at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317.
