Mary Margaret "Peggy" Lavagnino, née Boren, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018, in Carmel, IN, of natural causes, at the age of 87. She was born on November 29, 1931, in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Jesse Ronald and Geneva Eloise (Nussmeier) Boren, and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Indiana University. Her studious nature found her focusing on chemistry and library science, as well as classical piano. After graduation, she relocated to Indianapolis, and was employed by Eli Lilly and Company-where she met her husband Edward Ralph "Tony" Lavagnino-and later she was a Chemical & Patent Information Specialist at DowElanco. A devout lover of music and the arts, she was a frequent visitor to the Indianapolis Museum of Art and Clowes Memorial Hall, and was a long-time donor to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Peg was very handy with a needle and thread, and in retirement, she made hundreds of blankets for Project Linus. om (Hope Levy), John (Reiko Takeda), Merri Beth (Peter Oleshchuk), and James; grandchildren Oksana, Jeremy, John, and Sam; nephews Paul (Marla) and Scott (Maria), and loving grand nephews and nieces. Per her wishes, she will be buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis. A gathering will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Crown Hill's Gothic Chapel, with services at 1:30 PM and gravesite reverie at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, Peggy requested gifts to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra or Indiana University.
