lived in Burt at the time, was introduced to Ginny at a dance in Bancroft, IA. Although they didn't originally set out to be each other's dancing partners that night, as soon as they met 'the rest became history'. Surely it was Jim's great love for polka music that swept her off her feet that night.
They married May 6, 1950 at St. Cecilia's in Algona, IA. Their adventures together led them to Chicago for 10 years before moving to Waterloo IA, followed by Colorado Springs then making their way back to the family farm in Burt, before setting down In Algona. Ginny worked as a bookkeeper for Percival Motors, Cooks Inc, and Jim's Hi-Way Motors. She also served as deputy associate for the local sheriff department.
Jim & Ginny retired in Lubbock, Texas in 1996 where they enjoyed faithfully serving at the Catholic Charities Resale Center and at their home church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Ginny loved taking road trips across the US in their camping RV, playing a good game of cards with family members, collecting antiques for her home, and weeknights out with their local senior dancing group. Ginny's faith in Christ was an example and testimony to the way she loved and cared for her family. She adored her sweet husband and truly lived out the bible verse of Ruth 1:16 in her marriage, "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay."
Her beautiful life will be cherished by her four children, Valerie Anderson of Dallas, Tex., Steve Schenck and his wife Janet of Leawood, Kan., Bob Schenck of Chicago, Ill., and LuAnn Steier of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Young of Emmetsburg, IA., and sister Diane Johnson of Algona, IA.
