with notable trips to Europe, Russia, and Alaska among his favorites. In 1998, Darrell suffered a debilitating stroke that forced him to retire from teaching and volunteer activities.
He impacted so many people throughout his life as a teacher, friend, brother, son, and community volunteer. He will be remembered as an intelligent, humble, kind-hearted, humorous, supportive, and caring person with meticulous cursive handwriting that flowed like artwork.
Darrell passed away Friday, November 16, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City at the age of 71. He is survived by seven siblings, Nick Bormann (Freda Grove) of Bancroft, John Bormann (Gail) of Waukee, Carl Bormann (Diane Burbach) of Bancroft, Carleen "Kay" Proehl (Terry) of Mapleton, MN, Paul Bormann (MaryAnn) of Bancroft, Diane Lee of Mason City, and Carol Young (Richard) of Roseville, MN. He is also survived by 20 nieces/nephews and several grand nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Alfred (February, 2015), mother Lucille (February, 2009), and brother, Eugene (March, 1990).
