Donald H. Semelroth

Donald H. Semelroth, age 86, of Waterloo, died Sunday, November 18, 2018 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.  He was born October 30, 1932 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Alonzo and Edna (Liepelt) Semelroth.  Don attended Cedar Rapids and Lisbon Schools and was a US Navy Veteran, serving from 1950-55, part of it during the Korean War.  Don was united in marriage with Mildred "Millie" Helen Bronner on October 2, 1953 in San Francisco, CA. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2016. Don was a machinist with John Deere & Co. for many years.  He was a member of U.A.W. Local 838, Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo and Guy W. Iverson V.F.W. Post 49 in Cedar Falls.  Don enjoyed cooking, carpentry, woodworking, especially building bird houses.  He liked to travel with Millie by motorcycle or motorhome and enjoyed spending time with his family and his neighbors.  Don's constant companions after Millie's passing were his beloved dog, Bouncer and cat, Diamond.
