the Olmsted County Welfare Office as a child welfare worker from 1946 to 1955. Jean married Charles Walters on July 10, 1948, who worked at Rochester Ready Mix Concrete Co. and became president and major stock holder in 1964. He retired in 1984. They had two children, Ann (Jay) Sandstrom of Milwaukee, WI and Dr. Bruce (Tamara) Walters of Neilsville, WI; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents and two brothers. Mrs. Walters was active in the Community Chest, a forerunner of the United Way and the Salvation Army where she was the board chairman in 1956. Jean was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 50 years and the Rochester Golf and Country Club. For 20 years she tutored dyslexic children from her home and briefly in the Dover-Eyota and Kasson - Mantorville Schools. Mrs. Walters enjoyed family time, swimming, golfing and spending time at their winter condo in Fort Myers, FL. Treasured friends have continued to grace her life at Madonna Towers. For the past 10 years, where she was a member of the chorus, bridge groups, book club and numerous other activities. She will leave sweet memories for all who were fortunate to know her.
