n every step of her journey in her adult life. Alison was a sister you could call upon in any circumstance and be guaranteed understanding, generosity, love and a twisted sense of humor that brought levity to the darkness of life's challenges. Alison was a daughter who selflessly tried to be as helpful to her family as she could be. She was an organizer of extended family gatherings and took off from college to help care for her father when he fell ill. She was also an instrumental part of raising her niece, Lily when her sister struggled as a single mother. Alison loved her family, laughter, her friends, music, food, and life itself but more than anything, she loved being a mother to her daughter Layla. When Layla was born Alison did everything to transform her life. Layla is a bright shining light in this world and she clearly inherited her mother's determination and wit. She is Alison's greatest accomplishment and gift to us all, and for her, we will always be grateful. Alison fought relentlessly against a disease that was much more powerful than her. Over the course of her treatments, Alison was in the care of many professionals and fellow recovering addicts who helped Alison reclaim her health and in turn she touched their lives. Alison is survived by her daughter, Layla Burgher; Layla's father Richard Burgher; Mother and Father William and Mary Ann Fraser; sister Melissa McCarthy and husband Quentin McCarthy; brother George Fraser and his partner Tia Hantout; niece Lily; nephews: Donovan, Ronan, and Jasper; her partner Fred Wood; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
