red again at the end of the war when she met her future husband, Richard C Kline, when he returned to his old job at the Register and Tribune after service in the Navy. Betty became Mrs Kline in March of 1947. Together they raised three children in Des Moines. Betty was involved in the local drama workshop, cub scouts, political campaigning and other volunteer activities over the years. She remained fascinated by political events from Truman to Trump and was always willing to offer an articulate opinion on an issue. Betty was also an expert judge of good writing and her advice on books deserving a reader's time and money was always reliable. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Richard C Kline in 1982 and sister Ruth Y. Young in 2001. Her sharp wit, way with words, love of the arts and interest in politics survive in children Mary Kline-Misol of Clive, Stephen Kline of Omaha, Greg Kline of Urbandale, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Service plans will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to UnityPoint Hospice or Greater Des Moines National Alliance on Mental Illness.
