ity Co. and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is where he and Madge had their first and only child, Debbie Louise. While in Michigan, Jack was a member of the Masons Belding-Ionia Lodge #355, The American Society of Safety Engineers and the Greater Grand Rapids Safety Council. In 1954 he began working for Mackay Industrial Sales Co but left in 1956 to operate the Manrow Sheet Metal and Roofing Co. in Goshen, Indiana working to make his father's roofing business solvent again, as his dad suffered from lung disease working with asbestos for so many years. During his childhood, Jack spent summers with his parents and brother, Wally on the Wawasee Lake in Syracuse, Indiana at the family's summer house swimming, fishing & boating. Jack and Madge moved to South Florida in 1959 with their daughter Debbie, where they had previously enjoyed trips with Jack's parents, Wallace and Louise Manrow at their second residence on Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce. Jack loved to fish and shortly after their move to Ft. Lauderdale, purchase a used wooden cabin cruiser/fishing boat in which he spend many hours repairing. This was the first of a few boats in which many fish were landed. Jack worked for a concrete forming company until 1961 when he was hired by Prudential Insurance Co of America as a Safety Engineer where he performed safety reviews of the many magnificent hotels on Miami Beach as well as the three years he spent in Atlanta, Georgia until his transfer back to Florida (the state he loved). He retired in 1983. After Jack's transfer back from Georgia, he and his wife settled in Plantation Isles, FL on a waterway so he could once again enjoy having a boat, belonging to the Ft.Lauderdale Small Boat Club and fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Many a fishing story surrounded those years which included Madge and Debbie and later Debbie's two sons, Chris and Ryan. According to Debbie and her mother, Jack could fix anything and did so. He was a true Do-It-Yourselfer and passed his knowledge down to his daughter. Jack was also a Master Chief, a reader of many books including cook-books written by Paul Prudhomme and James Beard, whipping up many delicious meals for his family and friends. Among the most remembered dishes was his Chicken Wing sauce and Salsa. Pepperoni tomato pasta sauce with spaghetti, Shrimp Diego, Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding and so many more! Madge was the desert maker and cleaner- upper and is remembered by her chocolate chip cookies and Mango Pie. She and Jack were a well-oiled team in the kitchen for sure. In his later years he revealed his love of Jesus to his daughter. Jack had a quiet intimate relationship with our Lord and displayed this love through caring for his family, fighting for his country, and loving every living thing that climbed on this earth or flew in the sky. A devoted husband to his wife of 67 years, Edith MADGE DeWilde Manrow and father to his daughter, Deborah (Debbie) Louise Kurtgis. Grandfather to Christopher Matthew Miskura and Ryan David Miskura. Great Grandfather to McKailee Louise Miskura and Christopher M. Miskura Jr. Jack spent the last years of his life at the Lenox on the Lake Assisted Living facility after Madge died, where he received caring services for activities he could no longer master himself. Jack was preceded in death by, his wife Edith Madge Manrow, brother, Wally Manrow, parents Wallace and Louise Manrow. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah and her husband Phllip, Grandson, Christopher and his wife Nikki and Great Grandchildren, McKailee and C.J., Grandson, Ryan and his wife Heather,. Niece, Alice Ann Troy and Sister-In-Law, Gladys Bickel (who just turned 100 years old)living in Goshen, Indiana.
