Sokhom Keo, 78, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on January 2nd, 2019. She was born on January 15th, 1940 to Man Keo and Sim Ouk In Phum Preychay Srok Angkochey Khet Kompot, Cambodia. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa in March of 1982.
Sokhom lived a full life as a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed eating Big Macs, going for walks, sleepovers with her grandchildren, watching game shows and listening to karaoke. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She was the beloved mother of Vuthan IV, Chandara Sou (Vannarith), Ammara Sou (Ly), Leakhena, and proud grandmother of Monica, Jonathan, Dominick, Jovi, Nathan, Emily, Caitlin, Kylee, and Jayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Phan Keo, Phon Keo, Sarun Keo, 2 sisters, Noth Keo, Touch Keo, and husband Sareth Sou.
A visitation will be held on Friday January 4th, 2019 at 9 am at the Cambodian Buddhist Society, 1301 19th St. Des Moines, Iowa, 50314. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 5th, 2019 at 9 am. A burial service will follow immediately at Laurel Hill Cemetery. ...[more]
