his picture window, kayaking, fishing and hunting with family and friends, and taking occasional day trips to the casino and adventuring to the Minnesota North Shore, Wisconsin, and even Alaska. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always had stories and humorous sayings he loved to share with them.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, DeNeitt (Dale) VanDenBroeke of Spirit Lake; son, Bret (Tina) Nelson of Vinton; grandsons, Derick (Gwen) VanDenBroeke, Devin (Tiff) VanDenBroeke, Tanner (Alison) Nelson, Justin (Meaghan) Nelson and Dalton Nelson and fiancé, Madison; great-grandchildren, Ally, Oliver, Dillon, Clara, Anniko and Hannah; sister, Janet Cords and sister-in-law, Ervine Nelson; along with other family members and cherished friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jerri, his parents; sisters Bertha Cornwell and Vera Cole; brother, Ronald Nelson; father and mother-in-law, L.R. (Budd) and Donna Jean Ellery; brother-in-law Gary (Skip) Ellery and sister-in-law DiOnna Ellery.
