Alvin Hochstein

April 5, 1922 in Alba Township, Jackson County to the late Ernest and Bertha (Pomerenke) Hochstein. He was baptized at an early age and later confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rost Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. He received his early education at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and later attended Okabena Public Schools. On December 23, 1944, Alvin was united in marriage to Frances Henrich in the parsonage of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Okabena. This marriage was blessed with three sons, Gary, Curt, and Randy. After marriage, Alvin had several different occupations until he and Frances began farming in 1949 in Christiania Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. They continued farming for many years until retiring. Alvin had several enjoyments in life which included farming, dancing, playing cards, and most of all his family, especially his grandchildren. On March 6, 2008, Alvin became suddenly ill at his home in Windom and was taken to the Windom Area Hospital where he passed away a short time later at the age of 85. rs, Frances Hochstein of Windom; three sons, Gary Hochstein and his wife, Cheryl of Windom; Curt Hochstein of Sherburn; Randy Hochstein and his wife, Connie of Windom; five grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Cooper of Osseo; and Mildred Schumacher and her husband, Maurice of Zimmerman; and many more relatives and friends to numerous to mention.
