Librado L. Flores

Evansdale - Librado L. Flores, 85, of Evansdale, formally of Converse, TX, died at home on December 24, 2018 of natural causes. He was born November 12, 1933 to Nicolas and Anita Flores in Austin, TX. As a youngster, the family moved to San Antonio, TX. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country for 31 years from 1950 to 1981. During his service, he fought for our country in the Korean and Vietnam wars. For his services, he was awarded two bronze and three silver stars with many other recognitions and awards.  He retired from the military as a Sergeant Major. After his military retirement, he moved to Iowa where he worked at Chamerlain Manufacturing. In April 25, 1998, he married Melinda Payton and shortly after they moved to Converse, TX, where they lived for 20 years.  In June of 2018, they moved to Evansdale, IA. hers, Alvino (Molly) Flores, Paul Flores, Faustino Flores; sisters, Benita (Ignacio) Lopez, Gloria (Gary) Herbert; numerous nieces and nephews as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lee always had the can do attitude.  He taught his children, when you feel you can't go any further, you push on. Discipline is what his life was about, dedication to the Corps and a role model to younger military.
