Franklin Rogers Brenner, age 75, of Quincy, died on September 30, 2011 at 9:00 am in Blessing Hospital. Franklin Rogers Brenner was born April 22, 1936 in Madison, WI, where his father was a resident doctor. He was the first born son of Helen Rogers Brenner and Dr. Frank T. Brenner. Rogers attended grade school in Quincy, IL, California and Arizona. He attended Quincy High School but graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Toms River, New Jersey.. He attended Idaho University from 1954-1956. Then he was in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, CA from 1956-1958. Rogers had an interesting life. He drove big semi-rigs for 15 years owning his own rig in the sixties. At the age of 35 he learned to fly and found a new love. He became a corporate pilot, flight instructor, helicopter pilot and helicopter instructor. In the early 80's he became the Airport manager for Quincy Municipal Airport. Rogers loved Quincy and always felt it was a privilege to be the airport manager. He was instrumental in bringing the Skydiving "World Free Fall" Convention to Quincy, but he agreed with others when it was discontinued. Rogers was proud of his heritage. s who brought his family to the area in the early 1800's. He was the great-great grandson of Robert Gardner. He recently learned that his great grandmother and great grandfather Brenner each came from Germany, met, married and raised their family in the Mendon area. Rogers is survived by his wife, Jolene and their children, Talmadge Tad (Kim) Brenner of Quincy, and his daughter, Jolie (Johnny) Smith of Havre de Grace, Maryland; his grandchildren, Tad and Miles Brenner of Quincy, Jack, Sonny, Luke and Jade Smith of Havre de Grace, Maryland; a brother, Michael (Heide) Brenner of Knoxville, TN, and cousins in Quincy and California. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Dr. F. T. and Ethel Brenner, his grandmother, Marion Gardner Rogers Jackson, his grandfather, Archer Rogers, and his uncles, Ned Rogers, and Dr. Paul Brenner; an aunt, Eleanor Rogers Christian, and cousin, Robert Rogers. Services: 10:00 am on Friday, October 7, 2011 at St. John's Anglican Parish with the Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Burial: Woodland Mausoleum, Quincy, Illinois Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
