Leona "Mardell" Spencer, age 89, of 419 Washington, Quincy died Monday, July 18, 2011, at 12:20 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Leona was born December 16, 1921 in Beverly, IL the daughter of Charles Harvey and Maude Leona Kelly Hull. She married Glenn A. Spencer on May 7, 1943 in Payson, IL. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2010.
She was a member of First Congregational Church in Mendon and the Order of Eastern Star # 153 in Mendon for 50 years. Mardell worked at Selective Service Board in Quincy and at the office of Moorman Mfg. in Quincy. She and her husband Glenn built Unity Lanes Bowling Alley in 1950 and after 20 years of operation they retired and moved to Arkansas. In 2002 they moved back to Quincy where they lived in Sunset Villa.
Survivors include her brothers, Marvin (Leah Mabel) Hull, Barry, IL, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Wendell and Charles, and three sisters, Leta Sandifer, Ina Spencer and Bernadine Predmore.
