Donald Lee Benson

Donald Lee Benson of Verona, passed away on March 12, 2009 while on vacation in Florida.   He was born September 16, 1932 in Madison.   He graduated from Madison West High School, received a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a DDS degree from Marquette University.   He was married to the former Phyllis Holmes in 1958, and celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 28, 2008.   Don practiced dentistry in Verona for many years.   He served on the Village of Verona Board and on the St. James Lutheran Church Council.   He was a past member of the Verona  Optimist Club and the Wis. Dental Study Club, and was currently a member of St. James Lutheran Church.   Don was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Doris (Foote) Benson; brother Wallace and sister-in-law, Joyce Benson.   He is survived by his wife Phyllis, sister Sally Pfrang, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kenneth and Sally Holmes, several cousins and nieces and nephews.   A celebration of Don's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at ST.
