al church committees and was a talented carpenter when it came to fixing things. He was always eager to lend a helping hand. He delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. He loved camping, fishing and travel. He visited all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii, and also visited Canada and Mexico. He belonged to the Friday morning men's prayer group. Ray is survived by his wife Agnes; a daughter, Barbara Manning and husband Larry; a son, Michael Vahle and wife Mary; three stepsons, David Brown and wife Shari, Rex Brown, and Randy Brown and partner David Baker; 13 grandchildren, Brian Manning, Jake Vahle and wife Heather, Tracy Vahle, Andrea Vahle, and Amanda Young (step grandchildren) Kimber Brown, Ryan Brown and wife Elizabeth, Josh Brown, Rebecca Roberts and husband Robbie, Kara Floyd and husband Nick, Nathan Brown, Chris Brown and Emma Brown; 14 great grandchildren, Emily, Natalie, and Tommy Fajardo, MacKenzie and Max Vahle, Ayden Young, Jack, Ben and Katie Brown, Dakotah Brown, Kymber Hockinsmith, Kalli and Bella Floyd, and Skylar Roberts; and a brother, Robert Vahle. Ray also leaves many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Gladys, he was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Elmer, Merle and Loren, and two step-children, Chris Brown and Kevin Brown. Services: Saturday, September 18, 2010, at 11:00 am in the Vermont Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Grulke officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 7 pm Friday, September 17 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Masonic Rites conducted at 7:00pm by Herman Lodge #39, A.F. and A.M.
