James Carl "Odie" Madison , age 87, of 1900 Wilmar Orchard Circle, died Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 5:58 AM in Sunset Home. Odie was born May 24, 1924 in Barry, Illinois, the son of James and Maude Hoskins Madison. Odie was a 1941 graduate of Quincy High School.  He worked for a short time at Chaddock School.  In 1947 he and his father opened the Madison Bicycle Shop at Eighth and Jefferson in Quincy.  He and Greg Davis became partners in 1975 to form the Madison-Davis Bicycle Shop.  Odie was a former member of Union United Methodist Church where he was Scoutmaster of Troop 28 for over 25 years.  He had over 50 Eagle Scouts in his troop during his tenure.  He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include:   a nephew, Christopher Madison of CA;  2 nieces, Sally VanDyke and Missy Madison, both of Quincy;  a sister-in-law, Betty Madison of Quincy;  his good friend and business partner Greg (Shirley) Davis and their daughter Jayme of Quincy;  and his Pekinese "Mugs". He was preceded in death by his parents;  two brothers, Edmund Harry Madison and his wife Connie and Roy William Madison;  and a niece Shirley Howe.
