John Gardner Stevenson, age 69, of Quincy, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at 4:00 pm in Blessing Hospital. John was born December 4, 1941 in Rochester, MN to Dr. Walter Stevenson, Jr. and Katharine Gardner Stevenson. John attended the Quincy public schools and Lake Forest Academy.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Denver University and his MBA from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.  He served in the Army and National Guard. John and his wife Carolyn returned to Quincy from the East Coast in 1972.  He was anxious to get back to the community he loved so much.  He never tired of giving back to the community serving on countless boards over the years, including the CFM Foundation, the J.W. Gardner II Foundation, and the Quincy Area Project. John loved his wife and family above all else.  He enjoyed time on the golf course with friends, telling jokes, traveling, driving fast cars and walking his dogs.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. John is survived by his wife, Carolyn and their children, John G. is grandchildren, Jack and Alec Stevenson of Quincy, Gunnar and Katharine Croke of Steamboat Springs, CO; a brother, Dr. Walter Stevenson III and his wife Darlene of Naples, FL; two brothers-in-law Kenneth Harman and his wife Jeanne of Denver, CO and Robert Harman and his wife Patti of Highland Ranch, CO; and his nephews and nieces Scott Stevenson of Phoenix, AZ, Laura Stevenson of Austin, TX, Natalie Cohen and her husband Josh of Denver, CO, and Brian, Matthew and Chris Harman of Denver, CO. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph. Services: 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Visitation: 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
