Robert Burl Briggs

MadisonRobert Burl "Bob" Briggs, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on October 11, 2008. He was born on December 24, 1947 the son of Burl and Ida (Hughbanks) Briggs. Bob was a life-long resident of Madison. He was a graduate of East Side High, Class of 1965. Bob worked at Oscar Meyer until retiring in 1995. He also worked for Vacation Land Vending for a few years after retirement.   Bob enjoyed softball, deer hunting with his cousins and sons, and spending time with his family and friends. Bob had a large heart, always ready to help anyone with a need.   Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Ida.   The joys of Bob's life were: his three sons, Richard (Tina), Michael (Carrie) of Windsor, and Scott (Carolyn) of DeForest; his grandchildren Coya and Cadence; and his step-grandchildren, Garrett Miester, Nathan, Heather, Joseph and Savannah.   Bob is further survived by his sisters, Shirley Miller of San Diego, CA, and Beth Smith of New Orleans, LA; the mother of his boys, Silvia Reese and her daughter, Tasha and grandson, Casanova; step-children, Nicole, Lance and Kristina Farmer and their mother, Cheryl Briggs. nieces and nephews, Barbara Farve, Rick Smith and Jeff, Colleen, Lynn, Joe, Cathy Lapp and especially his cousin, Clifton Day and Bill Cody.   Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave, Madison with the Rev. Dr. David J. Berggren officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 am until the time of service. He will be placed to rest beside his mother at Sand Prairie Cemetery in Blue River, Wisconsin.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob's name.
