Martin "Marty" G. Dahm

Sun Prairie-Martin "Marty" Gerald Dahm, age 77, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 of heart failure at his home in Sun Prairie. He was born in Two Rivers, WI on February 23, 1933, the youngest child of Michael and Pauline (Bonk) Dahm.

 

Martin attended St. Luke's Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers in 1951. He served in the Navy's Atlantic fleet from 1951-1955 as an aviation storekeeper. He owned his own trucking business in Two Rivers until July 11, 1959 when he joined the Two Rivers Police Department. He retired from the police force on April 1, 1983 as a Sergeant and shift supervisor. He was a lifetime member of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association. Martin served two terms as a member of the Two Rivers City Council from 1972-1976. He also moved and renovated homes in Two Rivers and owned rental property in Green Bay.

and Jennifer Lee Dahm of Sun Prairie. Survivors include his two daughters, his former wife, and his beloved grand dogs, General and Mooka. He is also survived by three sisters, Lila Gospodarek and Iva Kouba of Two Rivers, and Carol Mae Nehring of Mishicot and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Dahm and Jeanette Dahm of Manitowoc as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold, Jim and Michael Dahm Jr., sister, Eleanor Flentje, his mother-in-law, Mildred Wilke, his brother-in-law, Mike Wilke, and special friends, Joan Christenson.

 

Martin enjoyed 27 years of retirement, moved to Madison in 1994 and to Sun Prairie in 2002. He was devoted to his family and was happiest spending time with them, his grand dogs, watching the Packers and Badgers, cooking and traveling to Las Vegas.

 

Cress Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity in his name.
