Theodore Peters, age, 96, formerly of 15 Brook Drive, Quincy, died Wednesday morning, June 27, 2007 at 3:40 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home. He was born September 23, 1910 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Theodore and Katherine Hermsdorfer Peters. He married Mary McCarthy in 1938 and on July 23, 1966, he married Lura Maddox who preceded him in death. Mr. Peters had worked for Excelsior Stove Co. from 1928 to 1952 and for Moorman Mfg. Co. from 1952 until he retired as an employee in the safety department in 1973. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and hunter. He especially enjoyed mushroom hunting. Luke of Webster, MN; Emily Van de Mortel and her husband Martijn and their children Eva and Bram of DesMoines, IA; and Johanna Compton and her husband Dave and their daughter Samantha of Peoria, IL; and 2 sisters-in-law, Katherine and Mayme Peters, both of Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Ada, Selma and Evelyn and 5 brothers Elmer, Ralph, Herman, Wilber and Andrew, and a great granddaughter June Shriver. Funeral Services will be Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Perdue officiating. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Burial in Quincy Memorial Park. Memorials given in his name to the Good Samaritan Home will be greatly appreciated.
