Robert J. Irvine

Robert "Bob" Irvine, age 53, of 1301 Spring Green Dr., Quincy died Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 7:55 p.m. in Barnes Hospital. He was born May 13, 1954 in Quincy, Illinois the son of John and Diana Haight Irvine. He is survived by his wife Linda Gedwill Irvine whom he married on October 2, 1993 in St. Rose Catholic Church in Quincy. He was a graduate of Quincy High School, Western Illinois University and the Illinois College of Optometry. He was an optometrist in private practice at Irvine Vision Centre and then re-located his practice to the Walmart Vision Center. Bob was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Illinois Optometric Association, and the Woodworking Guild. He enjoyed woodworking, particularly making furniture in the mission style, which included but was not limited to tables, chairs, desks and lamps. Bob also loved outdoor grilling, and he was considered to be a superb chef by all who had the pleasure of enjoying his BBQ. He was truly a wonderful father and husband and words can not adequately describe the enjoyment the family felt simply spending time together at home. nd Kim Tabeling and husband Richard of Jacksonville, FL, 2 brothers, Shawn Irvine and Tim Irvine of Quincy; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins; an uncle, Bob Haight of Las Vegas, NV, and an aunt, Connie Pfiffner and husband John of Prospect Heights, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jon-Jon. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating. Visitation will be before the service on Thursday from 4-7 pm. Memorials may be made to the Bobby Irvine College Fund or the Quincy Lions Club Sight Savers.
