Irene Tsilis, age 86 of 823 S. 36th, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 1:38 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. She was born December 26, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Spiros and Ellen Giannakopoulos Dimas. Survivors include; 3 children; Dean Tsilis and wife Kathy of Dyer, IN, Michael Tsilis of Vicksburg, MI, and Mariann Barnard and husband Jon of Quincy; 2 grandchildren, Traci Shaffer and husband Jim of Santa Barbara, CA, and Graham Barnard of Quincy; 5 step grandchildren, Emily Vahle and husband Mike of Daphne, AL, Christopher Barnard of New York City, Sara Sink and Chris Montelbano, Marcus Sink, and E. J. Sink of all of Hammond, IN; 2 step great grandchildren, Charlotte Rose Vahle and Cal Montelbano; 2 brothers, Jim Dimas and wife Genevieve of Carlsbad, CA, and Chris Dimas and wife Helen of Chicago; a brother-in-law, Gus Papajohn of Wheeling, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
