Lola M. Vahle

Lola M. Vahle, age 79, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 7:05 am in Blessing Hospital. Lola was born May 20, 1936 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur C. and Bertha M. Anderson Thomas. Lola was a housekeeper at Blessing Hospital for over 16 years, where she was known as the singing housekeeper because she sang hymns while she worked. Lola was a member of the Nazarene Church and was involved in numerous church activities over the years. She was excellent at crafts especially knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. She was also an excellent baker and cook. Lola loved to sing around the house, at church and at work. She enjoyed time visiting with family and her dog Max. Survivors include five children, Penny (Russell) Hedges of Quincy, Bruce (Frances) Harmon of Fowler, IL, Eddie (Ruth) Stewart, Randy (Stephanie) Stewart, and Aldo (Jessica) Vahle, all of Quincy; four step-children, Omer (Robin) Vahle and Luke Vahle, both of Burlington, IA, and Carla (Keith) Johnson and David (Michelle) Vahle, both of Hamilton, IL; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, PhyllisShaw and Leona Grace Figert, both of Quincy; and a brother,...[more]
