Loraine Augusta Bell, age 98, of Quincy, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 12:35 p.m. in her home. Loraine was born September 13, 1918 in Dundee, Illinois, the daughter of Edwin C.and Mathilda C. Lueck Funk. On October 10, 1940 she married Stuart W. Bell. in Dundee, IL. They relocated to Quincy in 1946. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1970. Loraine was a 1936 graduate of Dundee High School. She had worked at the Elgin Daily Courier in Elgin, IL and worked at the Quincy K-mart, where she retired as Personnel Manager in 1981. Loraine was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in the school, Ladies Aid, Women's Bible Study, Girl Scouts of America, LWML, and the church office. She transcribed Sunday School lessons in Braille for 35 years. She was active with Meals On Wheels for 10 years, the Women's City Club, and was an avid Blue Devils fan. In addition to her husband Stuart, Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edwin and Donald Funk, a sister, Dorothy Rundell, and a nephew, Daniel Rundell. Services: Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Mahsman officiating.
