Business. While at Illinois, he received honorary scholastic recognition as a member of Chi Gamma Iota Veterans' Honorary. He was also a member of the university marching band. He later was granted an Honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree from Culver-Stockton College. As a respected member of the Quincy and corporate communities, Dick was a former director, president, and/or member of a myriad of business and service organizations which included Quincy Soybean, Moorman Foundation, Profit Sharing Council of America, U of I College of Commerce and Business, CONVOCOM, Culver Stockton College Board of Trustees, Adams County Cancer Society, YWCA, Woodland Home, Quincy and Illinois Chambers of Commerce, Quincy and Illinois Industrial Associations, Blessing Hospital, and Blessing Hospital School of Nursing. Dick was also past President and a long-term member of the Quincy School Board. Dick was a lifetime member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and was a member of Rotary Club of Quincy where he also received Rotary's highest honor by his selection as a Paul Harris Fellow. He enjoyed music, piano, organ, bridge, photography, travel (especially cruises), and spending time with family and friends. He was a loyal supporter of Quincy High School and the University of Illinois sports teams and bands. In addition to his wife, survivors include: two daughters: Lynn (Phil) Cheeseman of West Lafayette, IN; and Ann (Tom) Hartman of Jerseyville, IL; three grandchildren: Cyrus R. (Jasmina) Cheeseman of Carmel, IN; David R. (Gary) Cheeseman of Columbus, OH; and Rachel A. Cheeseman of Tucson, AZ; a sister-in-law, Gayle Liebig of Quincy; three nieces: Nancy (Mike) Ogle; Susan Huddleston; and Debbie Liebig, all of Quincy; and three great nieces and nephews: Michelle Ogle (Buddy) Benjamin; Travis (Kristen) Liebig; and Brandi Liebig (Corey) Vonderhaar. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John P. "Jack" Liebig; and a nephew, John W. Liebig. Services: 11:00 a.m. on January 22, 2018 at Vermont Street United Methodist Church with Rev.
