Donna Jo "Gran" Tutt, age 64, of Quincy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday January 27, 2018 at Blessing Hospital. Donna was born on August 22, 1953 in Quincy to Hubert Joseph and Betty Lou (Robinson) Murphy. She was a 1971 graduate of Quincy High and a 1972 graduated from Quincy School of Practical Nursing. Later in her life, Donna attended JWCC and received her Associates Degree in Nursing. Becoming a Registered Nurse was an achievement that made her very proud. Donna worked as a nurse at several nursing homes including The Illinois Veterans Home and had recently retired from Blessing Home Care. While working in home care, she would go above and beyond caring for her patients from going to the store for them to eating dinner with them so they would not have to eat alone, she was there for them. Donna married T. Scotty Tutt (1951 - 2014) on May 26, 1973 at Parkview Church by Rev. George Tomko. Donna or Gran as everyone close to her called her, was the kindest lady and never let a family member or a friend go hungry or without if she had it to give. d Sheila and her best friend Susie. Donna loved to cook, play card games, go to the gambling boat and was an avid crafter, talented in all genres of crafting. Rather it was talking & visiting with her grandson Alex, having a late night talk with her granddaughter Averi, spending hours on the phone talking to her sister-in-law Valerie whom she thought of more as a sister or preparing family dinner every Tuesday with her daughter Dawn, Gran was everyone's best friend. A woman of great strength, spirit, determination & heart Donna triumphed over many challenges in her life. These amazing attributes along with her sense of humor and quick wit will forever be a comfort and reason for her family, friends and all those who knew her to smile. Gran was most excited recently finding out that she was going to become a Great-Grandma when Alex & Ashley made her scream with joy and excitement with their blessed news. She is and will forever be deeply missed. Survivors include her daughter Dawn Tutt, of Quincy; two grandchildren, Alexzander (Ashley Evans) Tutt, of Quincy and AveriAnna (Andrew Thompson) Tutt, of Quincy; sister, Cathy (Larry) Gallaher, of Quincy; sister-in-law, Valerie Meier, of Quincy; one brother in law, Kent (Debbie Dye) Meier, of Quincy; three nieces, Danielle (Keith) Terwelp, of Quincy, Samantha (Clint Kinard) Meier, of Quincy and Kelly (Thomas) Froburg, of Quincy; two nephews, Matthew (Amber) Meier and Joe (Adriane Schmitz) Wuestenfeld, of Quincy; three great nieces, Jordyn Kinard, Aiden Meier, and Hailee Garnett all of Quincy; five great nephews, Wyatt and Maddox Terwelp, both of Quincy, Nate Meier, of Frisco, TX, and Nathan Garnett and Austin Garnett both of Quincy. Close family friends that became family to Donna included Eric and Jordan Sheets and their daughter Emilia, all of Quincy and her close friend and companion, Gary Willing, of Quincy. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, one sister Sheila Murphy and an infant son, Scotty Joseph. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday February 1, 2018 at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Wentzel conducting. Burial will follow afterwards at Greenmount Cemetery at which time the ashes of her late husband Scott will be laid to rest with her. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Wednesday January 31, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorials: Hansen-Spear Funeral Home to assist with funeral and final costs are greatly appreciated.
