Richard Arthur "Dick" Gosnell, age 91, of Quincy, died on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in Blessing Hospital. Richard was born April 14, 1927 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Kenneth William and Leta Irene Gosnell. On February 8, 1950 he married Patricia Ryals. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2003. He married Roseann E.Wheeler Bonebrake on April 14, 2015 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. She survives. Richard served as a pilot in the United States Navy during World War II. He received his bachelors of science degree from the University of Illinois. Richard was employed for Pillsbury in Buffalo, New York for 15 years, where he oversaw the largest flour mill in the world. After Pilsbury, he was employed at ConAgra for five years. During that time, he was the president of the Association of Operative Millers (AOM) for a couple of years. He then began a 15 year career at J.M. Huber in Quincy, until his retirement in 1992. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and playing golf and tennis. He was an avid reader and bridge player. Gosnell of Quincy, IL, Julie (Glen) Schuster of Ladue, MO; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Lou Steever of Taylorsville, KY, Georgia Pope of Duncanville, TX, Sue (Bob) Derber of Springfield, IL; a brother, Robert "K" Gosnell of Lawrenceville, IL; a half-sister, Kathy Parrot of Sumner, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Patricia, Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alan Gosnell. Services: 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Blaeser, O.F.M. officiating. Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois with military rites by American Legion Post #37. Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
