ave and Virginia wanted to escape the harsh Wisconsin winters and enjoyed the lovely weather of the Rio Grande Valley. In 1995 they moved to Pine to Palm Park in Weslaco, where they spent seventeen years. They moved to John Knox where they would spend the remainder of their retirement. Virginia enjoyed reading. She also played bridge, pinochle, worked puzzles and enjoyed quilting. She and Dave enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Matthew and Wilhelmina Hawkins, her loving husband of seventy years, Joel David Hawkins "Dave," sons, David Charles Hawkins and Steven Lee Hawkins, brothers, Raymond and Leonard Krutchen, and sister, Phyllis Hicks. She is survived by her sons, Greg Hawkins (Marsha), of Wisconsin, Douglas Hawkins (Renee Roemmele) of London, grandchildren, Jeremy Hawkins (Isu), Sarah Anthony (Rob), Erica Hawkins and Natalie Hawkins, great-grandchild, Arthur Carl Hawkins, two nephews, and six nieces. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 2nd, 2019, 10am at John Knox Village in Weslaco.
