BIRTH: September 28, 1919 Rural Elmwood, Illinois Son of William F. and Mary Grace (McNitt) Miles Graduated from Elmwood Community High School 1937 Enlisted February 14, 1938 in Portland, Oregon DEATH: December 7, 1941 Aboard the USS Oklahoma in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii Listed as MIA (Missing In Action) Interred with at least 400 other sailors and Marines in two cemeteries (Halawa Naval Cemetery and Nu'uanu Naval Cemetery) as "unknowns," and later to the National Cemetery of the Pacific, Honululu, Hawaii.
