In 1995, they moved to Lenior Retirement Community in Columbia, Mo., where she was a member of the United Church of Christ. In February 2018 she was moved to Heartwood House at Northcrest Retirement Community to be closer to family. She is survived by her daughter Linda (James) of Churchville, NY; a son Eric (Tatyana) of Ames, Iowa; and a son David (Liz) of Boulder, Colo.; eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle, brother H. Lee Schwanz (Kathleen) of Madison, Wis.; and her sister Margaret Rae who died as an infant.
