John M. Nitka, age 56, died Tuesday November 10, 2009 in Fitchburg.   He was born May 12, 1953 in Madison, the son of Joseph and Marion (Turk) Nitka.   John was a great Packer fan and   enjoyed working on cars in his spare time.   He was known for his amazing and witty sense of humor.   He was a veteran of the US Navy.   He was a longtime employee of Gardner Bakery.   On January 3, 2009, John was united in marriage with Carol Ryan in Sun Prairie.   In addition to his wife Carol, survivors include 2 sons: John "J. J." Nitka of Sun Prairie and Jestin "Jesse"  Nitka at home; 1 daughter Shandar Nitka of Sun Prairie; 4 loving stepchildren: Crystal (Bryan) Yelk, Elizabeth (Bruce) Grainger, Katie and Jacob Ryan all of Sun Prairie; 4 grandchildren: Sapphire, Alex, Kenton and Jacob; 5 brothers: Joseph (Nancy) Nitka and Mark Nitka both of Madison, Michael (Patricia) Nitka of Sun Prairie, Paul (Debra) Nitka of Pueblo, CO and Ken (Dee) Nitka of Richland Center; 1 sister Ginny (Jerry) Blum of Madison; a sister-in-law Joanne Nitka of FL; several nieces, nephews and his best friends Ter...[more]

Yonkie and Brenda.   He was preceded in death by his mother and brother Pat.   Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, November 13 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME where friends may call from 11:00 am until time of service.   Reverend Tom Edwards will officiate.   Military honors will be accorded at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens.   In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in John's name.
