family joined Covenant Presbyterian Church in the 1960's. Jim served as an Elder and deacon, taught Sunday School, and served as an usher. Jim volunteered as a Red Cross driver, delivering and picking up blood for those who needed it. Over the years he also volunteered as a tutor at Memorial High and Glen Stephens Elementary School where he was known as "Mr. Jim." He was brought into Delta Upsilon Fraternity, Wisconsin Chapter, as an honorary member for the dedication to the fraternity that his sons had joined. He served as President of the Housing Corp., and continued to serve on the board. He enjoyed Badger football and attended the Madison Hall of Fame and the Mendota Gridiron Club. He took up flying at 50, bought his own Cessna and flew for many years. He delighted in gathering with his family and friends at the large cabin in Northern Wisconsin that he and Barbara designed. He enjoyed camping with his sons and brother, Richard, building furniture, and traveling with Barbara. He was very proud of his sons and daughter-in-laws, and delighted in his grandchildren. He was a generous man who quietly offered financial and emotional support to those who needed it. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons Steven (Jennifer), Scott (Kirsten), and Mark (Dawn), and his grandchildren, Grace, Nicholas, Sophie, Anne, Thomas, Madison, and Mackenzie, and brothers Bill and Richard. The family wishes to especially thank those who offered their love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E.
