Clarence Edwin Eckols

Clarence Edwin Eckols, age 91, passed away at his home in Driftwood, Texas on July 3, 2007. He was a life-long resident of Driftwood and a member of the Driftwood Methodist Church. The only time he was away from Driftwood was during his military service in Europe during World War II.Clarence was born to James T. and Maggie Eckols on July 28, 1915 during the Camp Ben McCulloch Reunion. His early years were spent ranching, hunting and trapping in the Driftwood area. In l942, he married Edith Christal of the Bear Creek community. Following his military service, Clarence and Edith established their home in Driftwood in l946. The ensuing years were spent ranching, raising a family, attending the Driftwood Methodist Church, serving the community and being a good neighbor. His philosophy was If you cant say something good about someone, do not say anything at all.? He lived his life according to the philosophy and cherished his family and the country lifestyle. The family will receive friends on July 6 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Chapel in Dripping Springs. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 7 , 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Driftwood Methodist Church in Driftwood, Texas. Burial will follow at the Driftwood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Driftwood Methodist Church.
