Mabel Schultz

  Mabel Schultz, age 102, passed away into God's care on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Oakwood Village East.   She was born on May 21, 1907 in the Town of Berry, Cross Plains, the first-born of three daughters to Rudolph and Emma (Redders) Heintz.   The family moved to Madison in her early childhood.  On June 27,1925, she married Carl W. Schultz at Zion Lutheran Church.  They had one daughter, Dorothy Baltes (David N. Baltes).   Mabel was employed most of her life including Madison Candy Company, Ray-O-Vac, Lorraine Hotel, Eck Card Shop, and Manchester's Department Store on the Capitol Square.  Besides being employed in her regular jobs, her and Carl provided much care for her family and friends including her now world-famous Gramma Rolls, Sunday dinners, and chicken dumpling soup (which seemed to cure everything except the plague -- though we didn't have a chance to try).  Her love of birds, nature, and hard work was evidenced by mowing her lawn  and  snow shoveling at 90.   She was a loving Gramma to Mark (Darlynn), Stephen (Larry Baker), Beth Dibbert (Dan), and Ben (Jenny).  Mabel was also Great-Gramma to Liz, Jake, &nbs...[more]

arah Hatchett (James), Weston, and Lily.   She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Elsie Walkman and Linda Boyum, and grandsons Mark and Stephen,   Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 22 at OAKWOOD VILLAGE EAST TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL 5565 Tancho Drive with Reverends Doug Locken and Pat Siegler officiating.  Friends may call from 3:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME and again from 10:00 am until time of service Monday at the chapel.    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to Oakwood East Rehabilitation Center to honor those that took such excellent care of Gramma.
