Richard Weldon Wehman passed from this earthly life on June 13, 2019, in Buda, Texas. He was born January 15, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas to George W. and Joyce E. (Meyer) Wehmann. He was baptized on February 5, 1949, at Our Lady Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, Texas by Pastor Rode, and confirmed at this same church on April 7, 1963, by Pastor Paul Probst. He was raised in Fort Worth, Texas and attended elementary and junior high school there until 1963 when his parents and two younger sisters Melissa and Lavonne moved to Dalworthington Gardens, south of Arlington, Texas. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1967. He then graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1972 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and later received a degree in Business Administration from UT Austin in 1976. Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force / Air Force Reserve from 1973 to 1980 where he attained the rank of technical sergeant. He worked for several years as a junior engineer at Vought Aerospace in Grand Prairie, Texas and the Texas Air Control Board in Austin, Texas. on August 27, 1976, by Pastor P.J. Johnson at the University Lutheran Student Center in Austin, Texas. Richard and Evelyn were blessed with two children. A son, Eric, born in 1978 and a daughter, Michelle in 1981. Richard began a thirty-seven-and-a-half-year career at the Lower Colorado River Authority, (LCRA), beginning in 1977, where he retired in January 2015 as a Principal Engineer in the Transmission Engineering Division. He enjoyed woodworking and home construction and renovation projects. He also enjoyed being with his family and friends and taking road trips with his wife and children as they were growing up with a pop-up camper they had. Richard and his family attended Bethany Lutheran Church in Austin beginning in 1985 where he was an usher for many years. Richard's favorite Bible passage was the 23rd Psalm. Richard is preceded in death by his parents; George and Joyce Wehmann, his sister, Melissa Sewell and his brother-in-law John Schumacher. He is survived by his wife Evelyn, son Eric and wife Julia of Buda, daughter Michelle Glass and husband Delton of Dripping Springs, sister Lavonne Schumacher of Keller, three grandsons, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
