pent many hours with his family cheering for these teams. He also spent several years running the chains at the Southeast Polk boys' football games and running the clock for boys and girls basketball games. He was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church for 38 years, served in numerous church leadership roles, sang in the choir, and played church softball. For many years he organized and bowled on an American Insurance Bowling team. He was active in the Altoona Lions Club and held many leadership positions in that organization and twice received the Warren Coleman Honorary Award for his dedicated service. He and his family spent many hours manning the Spin Art Booth at the Iowa State Fair and other locations. His cat Ellie will miss him as well as his precious grandsons, Nile and Hudson, that he loved immensely and enjoyed intensely. Jerry is survived by his loving wife and partner of 43 years, Marla Carr. They were high school sweethearts that were blessed by their sons Bryan and Eric. Surviving are Bryan Carr, Eric Carr and wife, Michelle and grandsons, Nile and Hudson. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Donna Carr and a niece, Deb Powers and a nephew, Pat Carr, along with two great-nephews, Logan and Connor Powers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Lillian Carr, and brother, Denny Carr. He will be missed by many family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, from 5 to 7, and his Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 on Saturday, June 29. Both services will be held at the Altoona United Methodist Church in Altoona, Iowa. Please feel free to wear your Black and Gold to honor the Hawkeyes and the Southeast Polk Rams and remember Jerry.
