uline was filled with joy at her interactions with others and will be remembered for her zest for life. All whom she encountered were struck by her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in people. She dedicated her professional life to helping underserved populations, specifically Hispanic immigrants. During her retirement she was an enthusiastic teacher of her native Spanish language. Throughout the many places she lived, she built around herself a community of friends and culture. She sought and found the very best in people. Buoyed by her Catholic faith, invigorated by the love of her family, and steadied by her fierce sense of independence, she faced a long-term, debilitating illness with courage and grace. Even in her darkest moments, she would still exclaim "that's wonderful!" when learning of moments of happiness for those around her. While her life on earth has ended, her eternal spirit and perpetual optimism continue to inspire all who knew Pauline.
