Richard J. Schmidt BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Richard James Schmidt, 87, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Brigham City Community Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1931 in Bay City, Michigan, a son of George H. and Betty Bertha Glaza Schmidt. Dick graduated from St. Josephs High School in Bay City, Michigan, received two Bachelor's Degrees from the University of Colorado and a Master's Degree from Utah State University. Dick married his sweetheart, Barbara Ann Wasson on August 2, 1952 in Boise, Idaho. Dick enlisted with US Air Force in Feb of 1951 and was discharged in October of 1953 where he was a Staff Sergeant serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a Chemical Engineer and Rocket Scientist at ATK where he retired in 1993 with 35 years. Dick loved to go golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time at their cabin with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; three children, Brenda (Neil) Marble; Tamara Misrasi; Gregory (Elaine) Schmidt; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one sister, Georgianna Field and one brother, Terry Schmidt. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Bear River City Cemetery, 4600 West 5600 North, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Box Elder County Veterans Honor Guard.
